At Paloma Academy, our special education focuses on all levels of literacy and writing skills using phonemic awareness, phonics, and vocabulary. These emergent literacy and writing skills are important building blocks that promote fluent readers and writers of all levels.
During morning greeting, your child will join their friends by the calendar for academic and age appropriate activities, singing, dancing, listening to stories, and reviewing their goals for each day. Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) Therapy is offered at Paloma Academy. ABA is the leading evidence-based treatment approach for individuals with developmental disabilities. At Paloma Academy, the board certified behavior analysts (BCBAs) will work with parents/caregivers to create an individualized treatment plan and behavior intervention plan (if applicable) for your child. This plan will then be utilized by the BCBA, board certified assistant behavior analysts (BCaBAs) and registered behavior technicians (RBTs) to teach your child the skills targeted for treatment, and to decrease any problem behavior. ABA therapy is another part of our students day. It is a focus outside of academics.
